A Gangster Movie for Awakening
This is something we may ask ourselves as we go through our work with A Course in Miracles: “How radical am I prepared to be with this blue book? Am I going to actually read it and do what it asks me to do or not?”

MWGE Movie Review Excerpt
After seven years of solitary confinement, gambler Jake Green is out of jail, having taken the fall for his boss. Doing time has taken him inward; he has been shown the game and how to win it. He has one final lesson when looking to exact revenge on his perceived enemy, the corrupt casino boss, Macha. Mr. Green still believes that “cash is king” and that having money and power is winning. The Spirit must reach us wherever we believe we are. This is the story of redemption through the exaggerated filter of gangster respect and fear. Here at a gross level can the game of human life truly be seen.
Metaphysical Movie Clips
I Don’t Like Tight Spaces
Whatever seem to be your greatest fears, even if it’s projected onto the world, the Holy Spirit will use those fears to free your mind; to take you into a fearless state of mind.
You’re In A Game, Jake
This is A Course in Miracles in one scene, in gangster language. The Holy Spirit is delivering a deep metaphysical message in a way the sleeping mind can understand.
Give Him What He Wants
Avi and Zach lead Jake through a series of assignments designed to flush the ego (Mr. Gold) fully into awareness, culminating in an ultimate forgiveness scene with Jake’s archenemy Macha. And in a truly magnificent elevator scene he recognizes that the voice of fear is not his real identity. Now truly released in a state of forgiveness, nothing can touch him.

Emotions/Themes: Money, Magic, Power of Thought
Excerpt: This world is about getting something for nothing. We always look to maximize the gain with a minimal payout. The Spirit’s way is different. It is about giving all to all. In order to reverse the world’s direction, one must be convinced that there is another way. Michael Jennings is going after the big paycheck that will secure his future by giving up time now. His plan fails. He sees that the more he invests in the future the more the future is like the past, full of greed, corruption, and death. A holy relationship is given him to see the emptiness of this frivolity.
Excerpt:Capitalism: A Love Story examines the impact of corporate dominance on the everyday lives of Americans (and by default, the rest of the world). The film moves from middle America, to the halls of power in Washington, to the global financial epicenter in Manhattan. With both humor and outrage, the film explores the question, “What is the price that America pays for its love of capitalism?” Families pay the price with their jobs, their homes and their savings. Moore goes into the homes of ordinary people whose lives have been turned upside down; and he goes looking for explanations in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere.
Emotions/Themes: Guidance, Dare to Take Step, Money, Happiness, Miracles, Faith, The Script is Written
Excerpt: This is a story of faith, trust, and destiny. Intuition guides, and with willingness to follow, our experiences lead to a further opening of inner guidance. Decisions flow from which inner voice we listen to (ego or Spirit) and our state of mind reflects the mind’s allegiance to illusions or truth. Regardless of the world’s appearances, when we follow the Spirit, we are happy.

Spiritual Journey Involves Washing of Pride
Jake’s fast-track spiritual journey involved doing things that would wash away his sense of pride. In his 20s, David was told by Jesus that he would not have a career. David was concerned at the time about how he would survive and he told Jesus that “money doesn’t grow on trees.” David was then guided to take several jobs that helped him dismantle the ego thought system as well as pay off all the debt he had.
We may be guided by the Spirit to do things that will wash away our pride and make us humble. This is important because if we hold pride in our mind then we are useless to the plan of awakening.

Sense of Security Comes From Being Done Through by Spirit
The phrase that came to mind while watching The Great Gatsby movie is “financial security.” We put those two words together “financial” and “security” even though they really don’t have anything to do with each other.
In the ego system, which is a system of lack, money seems to be exchangeable for so many things and to meet so many perceived needs, that it takes on exaggerated importance. What A Course in Miracles is saying is if you give yourself over to the Holy Spirit to let miracles be performed through you, that will give you more experiences that you are perfectly taken care of. We have to expose a lot of false beliefs and experience a lot of miracles to come to the point of seeing that our security can only be found in our connection with Spirit.
