What the Bleep Do We Know?~ Insights by David Hoffmeister on Quantum Physics, Duality, Perception and Right Mind.
The movie What the Bleep Do We Know? shows, with quantum physics, that everything is connected, everything you perceive is a result of your thoughts and everything is a thought. The movie leads its main character, Amanda, from frustration to a realization that it is her thoughts that produce the entire world she perceives. It’s all an illusion.
David Hoffmeister: There is really just one ego and one projection. Everything that involves duality is part of the projection of the split mind. Fragmentation was made to hide the face of God. The first lesson of ACIM already speaks to this: “Nothing I see means anything.” (W-1) The ego has invented this whole system to perpetuate guilt. The world looks solid but it is just a projection. God does not know anything of this world. All pain is in the mind and it is only in the mind that it can be resolved.
Everything that involves duality is part of the projection. It is the projection of the split mind into a world— a cosmos—where there seem to be trillions and trillions of fragments that don’t have any existence in and of themselves, and no relation to one another. It’s a big projection of images that were made to veil the face of Christ, and to veil the love of God. All the ideas about meaning, relationships, morality, and the guilt associated with dos and don’ts; it’s all part of this projection.
We have a perceptual hallucination going on. All the guilt comes from making false associations as if they are real, believing in them, and then holding onto them. “These are good. These are bad. This is what you should do. This is what you shouldn’t do. If you do these things you’ll get back to Heaven but if you do these things you are going to burn in hell.” The ego has invented this whole system in order to perpetuate guilt.
Quantum physics says that things look solid. The walls look solid. The bodies look solid. But it is really a projection of energy that is moving at a slower rate, like a dense energy that is part of a mirage. It’s maya; it’s illusion. It has no meaning whatsoever. When you take the example from the movie of the ball and the concrete floor never touching, you begin to realize that nobody touches anybody. Amanda simply interpreted the hurt as if a ball were hitting her stomach but nothing is really happening in form. All of the discomforts and hurts are coming from the mind’s concepts and ideas. All the pain is a mental projection; as if the body feels. There really is no such thing as physical pain.
Everything is happening in the mind and that is the only place it will get resolved. This has enormous implications. If you are watching any scene and you start to have feelings of jealousy, where are those jealous feelings? They have to be in the mind of the perceiver.
The jealousy is an emotion coming up in your mind for healing and release. It is not about what anybody did, it is your interpretation was of what they did, and that interpretation is always wrong because it’s always wrong minded! The Christ is not jealous.
Your life will completely change as you begin to understand these deep metaphysics. Instead of making behavioral rules to live by, you will begin to realize that the problem is mental. All the emotions that seem to be regular, normal human emotions are all ego emotions. There is no envy in God. There is no jealousy in God. There is no anger in God.
What you perceive through the five senses is not fact! There are no facts perceived with the five senses. Why? Because God did not create it. God is a fact. Christ, Spirit, is a fact. That’s why Jesus says in the Course that “No one can be angry at a fact.” (M-17.4). No one can be angry at God or Christ because if you knew God or Christ, you would know pure Love. Without fail, anger, jealousy and envy come from a misperception.
The Holy Spirit does not perceive moralistically. The Holy Spirit is not a moral entity. The Holy Spirit doesn’t perceive good behaviors and bad behaviors, good outcomes and bad outcomes. This understanding can be transferred to the question of ritual and prayers for specific outcomes. To keep praying and praying for an outcome—to be wealthy, or to have a beautiful spouse, or to have children—eventually leads you to question, “What is that even about?” and you begin to climb the ladder and pray instead for states of mind; “help me experience integrity; help me experience honesty; help me experience patience…”
But these prayers are still on the ladder and you begin to realize there is no patience in Heaven because there is no time and you realize that; “Help me to be more right minded,” is what your prayer really is. When you are right-minded you are naturally patient; you are in alignment.
