The movie The Giver plays out themes of repression, secrets, forgiveness, discovery of true identity, and the realization that a world without love cannot be the real world. Awareness of truth is the end of illusions.

Mini Review: In a seemingly perfect community, without war, pain, suffering, differences, or choice, Jonas is to be the next “Giver.” This means that he will be given access to memories and emotions that the rest of the population do not have, so that he will develop the ability to offer guidance and support from a higher perspective.
Jonas begins his mind training process with his mentor, and soon realizes that the world that he has grown up in is highly controlled and based on repression of memory and emotion. Without emotion and the practice of inner listening, the barometer for right and wrong, ego and Spirit is not accessible, and there is no way to develop inner discernment and spiritual awareness.
As he opens his mind with the willingness to remember (to face the unconscious), many thoughts, emotions and beliefs arise. Jonas experiences joy and pain, love and fear, memories of birth, death, profound loss and profound gratitude.
