“The desire for the things of this world completely obscures the miracle from your mind. And then you get a glimpse, maybe you have a moment when it becomes so clear of how glorious life really is, how spectacular life really is, and then you ask, “What do I do with the glimpse now?“

The Family Man Movie Review
Jack Campbell, is a wealthy, autonomous, fast-lane investment broker who believes he is living the high life. He has no idea what he is in for when the Holy Spirit intervenes and gives him a glimpse of an alternative, relationship-focused life that requires him to develop patience, tolerance and acceptance of what is. This film is perfect for showing the helpfulness of family for opening up to love and commitment, and putting something other than self-centered goals first.
One of the main benefits of this movie is that it teaches that things are not as they seem. The ego wants us to get adapted into this linear perspective of, “We’re human beings moving through time and space, we’ve had a past and we’ve got a future coming.” We don’t see that this whole linear time construct is a scheme to blind us from the truth.
When you get the glimpse, you can either say, “OK, back to the old grind,” or you can choose to hold the glimpse in awareness and keep the fire bright and let it light your way so you just shine, shine, shine everywhere you go with total disregard for fear. By holding the glimpse in awareness, you are saying to yourself, “I will not live a life in chains of fear, I’ve got too much love, too much glory to extend.” Everyone you meet becomes an opportunity to experience salvation, to take the stranger in to your heart. That’s the true meaning of “love thy neighbor as yourself.”
Essentially all seeming lifetimes are simultaneous. Jack is given a glimpse into possible, alternative outcomes in the world, highlighting the contrast between seeming success and seeming failure. He must become willing to lose everything and let go of the familiar in order to follow Spirit’s plan.
“The Ultimate Gift” After Movie YouTube: Another Holiday Classic for Dismantling the Ego
In this world we cannot tell our advances from our retreats. It is only the experience of peace that is our barometer. As the ego is dismantled, what the mind previously valued can be let go of and replaced with values of the Spirit, being integrity, friendship and laughter. Intuitive ability is heightened and a sense of service is experienced through the washing away of egoic patterns and desires. A new state of mind is realized and naturally all things of the world become meaningless. The ultimate gift is ordinary and just a recognition of who you are. ~ Excerpt from The Ultimate Gift movie review on MWGE.org
