Christmas Spiritual Movies
“Watching movies is a way of stepping back and remembering that what we see on the screen is not real. In fact, life itself is a big projection. What we see is not real but rather the out-picturing of our mind. Oh, but it is so easy to forget that! Watching movies in purpose is a way of remembering our true self.” David Hoffmeister, from the Movie Watcher’s Guide to Enlightenment
The Holiday
Emotion/Theme: Workaholism, Stress, Unworthiness, People Pleasing, Dare to Take Step, Opening up to love, Mighty companions, Heal Past Associations, Joy
Genre: Comedy, Romance
Mini Review: The movie The Holiday is a classic for worthiness and workaholics. A workaholic and an emotional people pleaser both need a Holy Spirit switcheroo to open them up to their heart’s desire. The Spirit uses contrast situations to show the joy that is possible and allows us to see our debilitating thought patterns. In the end only love remains.
Love Actually
Emotion/Theme: Special Relationship, People Pleasing, Inspiration, Opening up to love, Communication, Love, Family
Genre: Classic, Drama
Mini Review: The movie Love Actually is a classic for no private thoughts. It is a powerful movie that has every scene maximized for healing. All thoughts are expressed, and hidden secrets exposed which leads to healing for all concerned. People pleasing and fear of intimacy go hand in hand. When we choose one, we get the other.
Every relationship can be used by the Holy Spirit as they all give us the possibility to remember who we are.
