In the beginning of Bruce Almighty, Bruce (Jim Carrey) sees himself as a victim of the world and believes that God is to blame. God (Morgan Freeman) appears to Bruce and grants him His power, offering him a chance to do a better job. Initially, Bruce uses God’s power for selfish purposes, but is finally brought to his knees when his entire world starts falling apart. Thus begins his true spiritual healing.
When we come to see that all our efforts to make ourselves happy have failed, we become open to asking the One Who knows. Bruce is given another chance which he uses to genuinely serve others, and then everything works out. Only by accepting God’s plan instead of our own can we be truly happy!
