Follow God’s Plan ~ Stop listening to Ego!
The plan of God's salvation is pure Love. We have to follow the inspiration and keep going in the face of doubt. The movie The Adjustment Bureau is a demonstration of going all the way with the call for Love.
David Hoffmeister ACIM: This is a classic movie for showing how the ego's strategy is to simply shift all the hypotheticals around. The ego's plan for salvation is, “If something would change in form I would be happy,” and the Holy Spirit's plan is, “No, if you shift your mind, if you choose the miracle, you will be happy.” But the ego's deep, devious, clever plan is to keep you playing an endless game of trying to get the form to work out, which keeps the guilt going.
The deeper you go into the metaphysics, the more you start to see that your consciousness—your thoughts and beliefs—are generating the entire world. When you change your thoughts and follow your passion, it changes the whole perception of the world. We are told by Jesus in A Course in Miracles, "Therefore, seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world." T-21.1.7 The internal resistance to changing your mind can be enormous. You have to make a fundamental shift from fear to love. Instead of tinkering with the effects, you actually go right into the cause.
The Adjustment Bureau is a fantastic movie for showing the subtleties of ego temptation to believe that we can mess it up, playing the guilt game and following the external voices that say, No, you cannot do this or that, leaving us with a heart that isn’t alive and inspired.
The world will tell you there is good guilt and bad guilt. Jesus will tell you, "Guilt has no reason and it is always totally insane." The Holy Spirit will never run a guilt trip on you to force your hand. The Holy Spirit is running an innocence trip on you. A constant innocence trip over and over reminding you ”You are innocent. You are innocent. You didn’t do anything wrong. You have never been a body. You were totally mistaken about your identification and when you accept your Christ nature you know your innocence, finally, forever.”
Matt Damon, as our hero in the movie, has to fully allow Love to flow in him in order to save time. He is willing to trust and use the doorways that open for him, because he will not be delayed a second longer in time for his homecoming in love. He becomes very intuitive, follows his heart, and starts questioning the plan of the ego. It becomes a walk of trust for him as he calls to Elena, "Trust me. Trust me." This is the invitation of the Holy Spirit; there is no demand or command. It comes in the form of an invitation, and she accepts, "Yes. I want to be with you. I want to go with you." Even though the ego voices said to them, "You risk everything.”
